Specialty Digital Artist
Biography I am a mostly self-trained artist and webmaster/designer, living in Denver, Colorado. I do my own photography, and scan, edit and compose my "paintings" on the Macintosh. A lifelong artist, and a wildlife advocate, I donate a portion of all sales of my wildlife art to animal conservation organisations. My work has been displayed in various online galleries, including Slantville, the internet artist community that I designed and coordinated, displaying art by an international group of artists. For more information, see my web site at http://www.kellycheek.com
Statement Colour and texture are the main forces behind my work. Using a simple and dramatic compositional style, I focus on the colours and textures within my subject. There is not any deep meaning to be found within or behind my art, simply a love of natural beauty. I have a deep reverence for life and environment, and my artwork is a continuously developing endeavour to express this in a tangible form. Combining photography with digital editing and composition, his paintings convey a unique glimpse into the many varied facets of our world, both natural and man-made. I enhance existing colours and emphasise textures to increase the visual and emotional impact. With this process, I create an image that falls somewhere between photo-realistic and impressionistic in style.
